. That looks so beautiful. I would also recommend ‘Margot Henderson’s ‘you’re all invited’ for her picnic tips for those of us not so blessed with summer weather. I usually picnic on beaches in north Scotland and swear by a tripod and a cauldron for tagine then made flatbreads over the fire

What a shame it’s £72! I fancied getting a copy, but not at that price.

How fabulous! Always ready to channel the Famous Five and lashings of ginger beer. Thank you, Skye, for so much wonderful inspiration and the perfect day for it 🌞

I love a hollowed out boule stuffed with lots of delicious layers (pan bagnat) then sliced into wedges. A cool rice salad, ricotta and mint frittata, prosciutto crudo and plenty of Prosecco.

Such an informative piece Skye. This should become a bible for picnic organisers! I have a couple of small additions to proffer... Waitrose have a very good range of plastic wine glasses in case decent wine is being drunk (they have both red and white style/sized versions); boules/petanque is always good as a game and the terrain of a park/field usually suits this competitive and fun pastime; those small saucisson, chorizo in small packs are a great snack for those that are peckish before the main event gets underway - paired with some olives they are great as an aperitif. Buona estate!
