Hello, September! How have you been and gone already?! It’s been a whirlwind of back-to-school, back-in-the-kitchen and back-to-work on a couple of exciting, bigger projects I look forward to sharing soon. As much as I love the languor of the summer months, I do also love the buzz of September, that feeling of excitement and planning and all the new season promise. Here’s to that autumn feeling (pumpkins, hot chocolate and wooly jumpers here we come) and for now, here are a few of my most recent favourites…
I devoured this book in a couple of happy afternoons. The fascinating biography of Truman Capote’s ‘Swans’: Babe Paley, C. Z. Guest, Slim Guest, Lee Radzwill, Marella Agnelli, Pamela Harriman. The story of their lives and their complicated relationship with Capote. It reads almost like a collection of short stories: gossipy, glamorous and a window into a long-gone era, as well as a bigger tale of friendship and betrayal.
This 1990s BBC adaptation of Jane Austen’s novel is my equivalent of tv comfort food. I’ve watched it and re-watched it so many times, I can happily recite the lines by heart. And yet, every time I watch it again, it’s pure unadulterated joy. If you know it already (and if you’re a period drama fan, you likely do), then this is a prompt to consider a rewatch; and if you’ve never seen it before, I can’t help but feel a tiny bit envious: you’re in for the biggest of treats.
I’ve found that elusive, magical thing that is a shade of lip gloss that suits everyone and every occasion! And it plumps your lips up nicely, and gives a good gloss that doesn’t feel sticky. Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk is my new favourite thing, and I’m wearing it everywhere.
